The Color Code: What Each Shade Means

Red Lights: Stop and Act

OBD-II

A Loose Gas Cap Can Trigger the Check Engine Light

One of the most common — and easily fixed — causes of a check engine light is a gas cap that wasn't tightened fully after refueling. After filling up, tighten the cap until it clicks. The light may take one or two drive cycles to clear on its own. If it doesn't clear within a few days, use an OBD-II reader to check for additional fault codes.
